Hi I purchased your Madagascar OM from dream guitars. I just wanted to let you know that I really think its the best sounding guitar I've played to date. I went into dream guitars looking for a dreadnought and ended up with an OM. In my humble I even thought it sounded better than the $20,000 xxxxxx guitars. You really nailed it with this guitar and I am privileged to own it.

“The guitar seems to have endless headroom.”

“I like the sound of the OM so much that I am going to re-record a few of the completed songs for the album. I'd like to have several of your guitars.”

you don’t know me but I must tell the tale of a man who just spent the last 3 days touching every acoustic guitar for sale in Nashville under 5k. After much hand wringing and fully expecting to go happily home with a precious Martin, this happened.

“I think you will be pleased to hear that i really love the guitar. Something about it really spoke to me. Thanks for building it!”

I would like to thank Michael Potts for this writeup.

“EddieLee started college as a Math Major, dropped out, then returned to Texas Tech

after playing guitar with a touring Texas based rock band for a few years. He changed

his major to Electrical Engineering and was awarded undergraduate and graduate

degrees in EE. His education included fundamental physics, thermodynamics, and field

theory, among other areas. Knowledge in field theory enhanced his understanding of

vibrational modes in both electromagnetic and structural objects like guitar bodies. His

graduate thesis was published in the Journal of Quantum Mechanics. (The dude is

smart.) Engineering jobs with world class technology companies followed, along with

being President of his own engineering company for 20+ years. He also owned and

operated a company that grew and designed bonsai plants. Along the way, Eddie

studied for and received a Doctorate in Oriental Medicine and was in practice for about

10 years. He is licensed in CA and nationally.

Never too far from his own guitars and discovering the boutique building trade from

playing guitars at Maple Street Guitars and Dream Guitars, he decided to apply his

ample intellectual curiosity to learning how to build. Woodworking knowledge was

mostly acquired from doing research, classes, and then trial and error in the shop. “As

far as learning how to build a complete instrument, there’s a lot of information available.

It’s a very complicated process and most design elements and materials influence the

sound and performance of the instrument. It is a continuing learning process.” The

Luthier’s Forum was an invaluable source of information and advice. EddieLee recently

retired from EE and is now building guitars full-time.

So, why discuss EddieLee’s experience outside of building guitars … I want to

emphasize that he a brilliant man with intense curiosity and intelligence, and an artistic

spirit. I have three of his OMs. All are gorgeous and perform quite well in the studio and

live. Fit and finish are perfect; playability is sublime; dynamic range is broad; tone is

sweet and well balanced; and they are loud. I’ve owned many high-end instruments,

including Buendia, Ebata, Claxton, Maingard, Lowden, Goodall, and many others. I’ve

sold most of them after enjoying them for many years. But my ELBs are keepers. I

used my first one on my 2000 album release; it recorded at least as well as the others I

list above, and usually better. I believe I am the first person to buy one of his guitars

(Maple Street Guitars). And he has sold a few through Dream Guitars. He has been

building since 2013.

Get yourself into his build queue. You won’t be disappointed.”
